GTB Steel rebar plant starts output in Armenia

亚美尼亚总统办公室宣布，亚美尼亚-美国GTB Steel螺纹钢厂已在Ararat社区投产。

The Armenian-American GTB Steel rebar plant has started production in the Ararat community, Armenia’s president’s office has announced.

Kallanish（开阑商务信息咨询）获悉，工厂代表称年产能为112,800吨。工厂有240名员工，预计3年内将增至500人。总投资达3,100万美元。亚美尼亚总理Nikol Pashinyan出席了周六的开业典礼。

Plant representatives say production capacity is 112,800 tonnes/year, Kallanish notes. The plant employs 240 people, but this number is expected to increase to 500 within three years. Total investment amounted to $31 million. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony on Saturday.

炼钢车间配备感应炉、钢包精炼炉和连铸机。热压块铁和/或直接还原铁与废钢在感应炉中混合，以确保对钢水化学成分的精确控制。

The steel melting shop is equipped with an induction furnace, ladle refining furnace, and continuous casting machine. Hot-briquetted and/or direct reduced iron are combined with scrap in the induction furnace to ensure precise control over the steel chemistry.

According to the company, the produced A500C steel rebar is a great choice for reinforced concrete structures. “The textured surface helps it bond firmly with concrete, ensuring stability and strength. The alloying process enhances its density and flexibility, making it a durable and dependable option for construction needs,” it adds.

该公司计划在新工厂每年处理12,000吨废钢。

The company plans to process 12,000t of ferrous scrap annually at the new plant.

该厂还包括一个40,000千伏安变电站、一条110千伏架空输电线路以及Ararat 2站的一个新电池单元。

The plant also includes a 40,000 kVA transformer substation, a 110 kV overhead power line, and a new cell at the Ararat 2 station.

此前，该厂原计划建在靠近阿塞拜疆边境的Yeraskh社区，但由于阿塞拜疆武装部队的不断炮击，于2023年夏季决定迁至Ararat生产（见Kallanish相关报道）。

Previously, the plant was to be built in the Yeraskh community near the border with Azerbaijan, but due to constant shelling by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, it was decided to move production to Ararat in summer 2023 (see Kallanish passim).

GTB Steel成立于2022年，是GTB Holdings的子公司，Nono Sargsyan拥有后者50%的股份。

GTB Steel was founded in 2022 and is a subsidiary of GTB Holdings, which is 50% owned by Nono Sargsyan.

Armenia imports rebar mostly from Russia, Ukraine and Iran.
